Women's volleyball comes to a end at home
IMPERIAL 11-16-23 - Imperial Valley College volleyball hosted San Diego Miramar on Monday night for their final game of the season at home where they also celebrated sophomore night for their team. IVC came into the last game of the season with their top player injured out of the game. Aneth Ponce for IVC started off the first last serve of the game of the season against Miramar. The first point was finished by Alessandra Esquivel by IVC. Miramar in game one was able to take advantage of IVC’s small mistakes, and make them into points for themselves. Despite being down by double digits IVC still had some success plays by big time spikes. Was not long as Miramora finished game one win 25- 12 by their own Elif Solmaz in a spike. Miramia started off game two with a strong lead by serves by Torie Nguyen. IVC had powerful double blocks but it would not be enough despite the ball being blocked it would still end up being points for their opponent. IVC was able to keep the score closer than the first game but mistakes, and communication continued to be a factor for them. There were few successful plays IVC had but it did not last long as Miramia held IVC to just 11 points. Miramia would take game two in a 25-11 game win. Miramar went into game three with a two game win advantage hoping to get the sweep they wanted. IVC Aneth Ponce first served in what would be the final game set of the series as Miramar quickly answered with a successful point spike. IVC made sure they did not go down without a fight as game three stayed close in points but IVC did lead the way. Game three was consistent by both teams, they would each score back to back keeping the game one point apart, and or tied up. Halfway through the game points was where Miramar got a comfortable lead against IVC. Despite being down IVC continued to put their bodies on the line fighting to keep their season alive. IVC was able to cut down the lead by just a few points. Gaining momentum in which they needed from their teammates. Despite being down IVC continued to have successful plays, which led them to tie the game late in game three! Miramar Logan Mendez led the final serve of the game which would then be finished by Miramar to complete the three game set sweep in a 26-24 game victory over IVC in which concluded the season for both teams.
