Sophomore Night For Women Basketball

Sophomore Night For Women Basketball

IMPERIAL 02-21-24- The Imperial Valley Women's Basketball team hosted the Mesa College Olmpians for what would be their last home conference game before playoffs which would also be their Sophomore night. Both teams entered the game with high conference records as the Warriors had only confrence two losses, and the Olympians carried only one loss in which the Warriors gave them a defeat by three. The Warriors early were able to apply the defensive pressure which would have the Olympians in turnovers. Both teams continued to answer right back at each other as the score stayed within close reach. The Warriors executed in their offensive plays by screens to allow themselves for open opportunities at the basket. The second half started as the first half finished that was the competitiveness from both teams on both sides of the ball. It continued in back and forth sequences as both teams applied the defensive screens for open opportunities, drives inside the basket, defensive stops, and rebounds from both teams. Both teams would enter the final quarter of regulation in the game in their hands it all came down to who wanted it more. With less than a handful left in regulation the Olympians went back to full court double team press but it did not hold back the Warriors as they were able to break the press, and get inside the paint for points. The Olmpians would then call a timeout down by double digits with less than two minutes left as the Warriors continued with their momentum. The Olympians would then draw the remaining team fouls they needed to give them a chance but it would not be enough as the Warriors would come out on top at home in a 52-41 conference win!
